The Welwyn  Critérium du Dauphinoise road race takes place on Sunday the 12th of June on the Kingston circuit south east of Cambridge. It is part of the Eastern Road Race League series of events.

The Eastern Road Race League started life as the Essex Road Race league but now includes Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk as well as Essex, and  consists of 50 events organised by 44 clubs between March and October.

The New Course

Here are a few pictures from the Cambridge CC  Ike Saul in 2015 which used the same course and event HQ in the Orwell village hall.

The New Course

The new course is south east of Cambridge, in open, rolling terrain which should make for a fast race. Wind could be factor on the straighter roads but the twists and turns in the last few km could favour a late attack. I think that it is a course where the race will be made by the riders and so has the potential for a great race.
